GESB Account Closures

You may have received a notice from GESB recently advising that your account may be transferred to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) under the definition of lost or unclaimed super in the case where there hasn’t been any activity in your GESB account.

What do you need to do to keep your account?

If you’re aged 65 or over, or have an account balance of under $1,000, you can apply to keep your account from being transferred to the ATO for five years.

To stop your account from being transferred, you can complete their online form or contact the Profusion Planning office and we will arrange on your behalf.

You need to submit this form by Friday, 10 October 2025.

Please note, if you’ve already completed the form, you do not need to take any further action.

Important note about keeping in touch

You will need to keep in touch with us during this time, or your account will again be identified as lost or inactive and may be transferred to the ATO after five years. Keeping in touch includes logging into Member Online, contacting GESB online or over the phone, and/or making regular contributions to your GESB account.

What will happen if your account is transferred?

If your account balance is transferred to the ATO, your account will be closed, and you may not be able to open another one (this is especially important if you have a GESB West State account as these are closed accounts and can no longer be opened). Any insurance you have within your account will also cease.
